Quick and Easy Chip Dip Recipe

Now that summer time is coming it seems like I am always needing a quick pot-luck item for a party or picnic.  This is a recipe my mother in law game me.  I love it because the ingredients are things  I keep on hand in my pantry or the refrigerator.  So it is easy to make last minute, and I don’t have to run out to the store for ingredients.  Another great thing is, you can chill it and serve it cold, or you can heat it up and serve it hot.

Start out with a serving dish or large  plate.  Spread 1 (8oz) brick of cream cheese on the  bottom. I have found it is easiest to spread with the back of a clean spoon.

img_0500Then take 1 can of refried beans, and spread it on top of the cream cheese layer.

Grate 2-3 cups of cheese and spread over the top.

Slice up olives and sprinkle on the top.  You can also add green onions

You can then either, put it in the refrigerator and serve cold.  Or you can put it in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 min15utes till hot.

Great recipie! Hey, I got print outs of two new catalina deals comming up at Albertsons. They are both valid between April 24th and May 17th. The first is for Post shredded wheat cereal buy 2-get$1,3-get$2.50,or 4-get$4. The second is for Old El Paso, buy shells, dinner kits, seasoning, beans or heat and serve side dishes. Buy 3 - get $1, buy 6 - get $3 - towards the purchase of beef or chicken. Thanks for making it fun to be thrifty!

I grew up eating a version of this. We spread one thing of cream cheese on the bottom of a microwave dish, spread a can of chili with NO beans on top of the cream cheese, then top it all with shredded cheese. Pop in the microwave just until the cheese melts... delicious!

This also looks pretty in a clear trifle dish, especially with the green onion layer showing amid the other colors. I love how you show the steps to your cooking. Thank you.
