I wanted to alert you that TONIGHT, December 29th, at 8pm (eastern), Nathan Engels (MrCoupon) or Nathan Engles (they misspelled his name) along with three other people will be featured on TLC Extreme Couponing and you bet we will be watching it. Extreme Couponers are what many non-couponers call us and it will be fun to see how they portray those who love to live Thrifty by using coupons. We hope that it is positive, but whatever the outcome our goal continues to be one that inspires people to use coupons!

We may be a little ‘extreme’ but our desire and hope is for families that need to save money will check out couponing!!!

Nathan wanted to hint towards something that he built, that was about 15 feet tall!! They filmed it’s creation and it was almost entirely donated to local foodbanks! TLC also filmed the giving aspect of couponing!! During this episode they donated around $6000-$7000 in product to a fantastic pantry!!! (they shared this not to brag, but to lead by example, giving is such an amazing aspect of couponing!!!)

So check out TLC Extreme Couponing on The Learning Channel at 8pm TONIGHT.

I use to do extreme couponing but would only keep a few extra items for myself – 80-90% of what I bought went to food banks. I still had fun playing the “game” and still got the register rush but got an even bigger rush being able to help people in need. I think the people on this show are being selfish keeping all the products to themselves when they have so much to share. Food banks, Ronald McDonald House and other non-profit places will even give you a donation receipt which means you can get free stuff for yourself and others and get a break with the government during tax time.

I don’t know how they get past the limits stores put on the sales. My Kroger store only allows 8 coupons per like item so you couldn’t use say 50 coupons on 50 boxes of macaroni like he did; I would only be able to get 8. So this wasn’t what everyone would be able to do on the extreme level.

Had unexpected company and missed this show. I did see the clip on GMA. My comment is about the huge amount of foods. I bought about 20 bottles of Kraft dressings for my family of 6 and most went out of date before we could use them. also have had lots of cereal go out of date before we could use them Do these extreme couponers just ignore the dates or how do they buy such large amounts without being wasteful. I agree the toilet tissue and things definitely won’t go bad but wondered about the food.

Yeah we work off of a 1 year system. Granted some items may go bad. we either give them away or plan our meals around it to use it up. But hardly anything of ours goes to waste. If it does its cause of our kids playing with it and opening it..
But 2-3 year food storage of this type of stuff in manufacture boxes will not last that long. But at the same time dates (many of them) are “best if used by”… is if you dont mind them stale then have at it…
but 2-3 or more years is more of an addiction to shopping then trying to live thrifty…

WOW! That’s soo crazy 1,000 boxes of cereal is outrageous. Now I see why they call them extreme couponers. Still, I never thought about expanding my pantry until i watched this. You know I keep my extra things that I stock up on in plastic bins in my garage, maybe now my hubs will put some shelves in there.

Hello! You and I have a lot in common! I am also a stay at home mother of four wonderful children and I am happily married to my best friend! I coupon a little but really would love to learn more about it…. I watched this program tonight and was blown away at how much these people saved. We are wanting to start a food bank at our church and I think this would be a great way to start but I really need some insight on how Mr. Coupon does his work (I am having a hard time understanding it all)… he mentioned something about a website that would send you coupons… just wondering if it is the one mentioned above or a different one… please any help or advice would be greatly appreciated….I also think this would be a wonderful way for us to save some money being that my husband has not been able to work very much in the last 6 months! Thank you and God bless you so very much!

Krystalen, They are coupon clipping services. You pay for them to clip your coupons, or you can find them on ebay.
