Fruit for a good cause

So we were sitting in front of our computers last night typing away, and we had a young man ring our door bell. Come find out it was Bobby W. from the College of Idaho Baseball team. Every year they go around selling oranges, grapefruit, and apples by the case, And every year we try to buy a couple cases. Now this isn’t some kid selling stuff so he can win a trip, it is a team effort. Each year these baseball players go put out in the cold, after school to sell these cases of fruit to collect enough funds to buy balls, bats, and other baseball equipment for the entire team.  And one of the reasons why we buy it is that the fruit is real good! It also supports local athletics and local schools. This is how it all works out:

Premium Sunkist California Oranges (size 88 – approx)  has 40 oranges per case.

Sunkist Ruby Red Grapefruits (size 40 – approx) has 20 per case

Apples ( From Symms Orchard here in the valley) You get:

  • Red Delicious (20 lb approx) 36 per case
  • Granny Smith (20 lb approx) 36 per case
  • Fuji (20 lb approx) 36 per case

Each case is only $20 which I think is a great deal considering the quality and the dollar amount per pound when you consider this is also a fund raiser.

They will personally deliver the first week of December around Friday December 3rd. Now this is not just a Caldwell thing. They deliver to your door through out the Boise/Meridian/Nampa/Caldwell/ and a few locations near by.

So call the College of Idaho Baseball office at 208 – 459-5861 and order your cases today. Make sure you tell them A Thrifty Mom.com sent you because Bobby Wassmann came to our door!
