Bag of Rice Project #127 -A visit to the Marcus family #bagofriceproject

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Marcus family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Jennifer Pearce this is the 127th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

This family was our 100th story family and we had a special request to deliver a second bag of Rice to them by Jennifer Pearce. The first time we visited and I saw this special family, I was moved by their story and how the Husband to Mrs Marcus and father to this 3 wonderful kids abandoned them and have left them to suffer. Update: He is not yet back and the family still has no idea of where he is. Obviously their story touched a lot of hearts and with the help of Jennifer Pearce we were able to go back to visit the family and deliver another bag of Rice to them.

We also took pictures of the inside of their house and words can’t really describe their living conditions so I’ll just put the picture here. I advised her to sell the second bag of Rice and with the resell value of the Rice being much higher in their village than what it was where we bought it. This could be of great value to her family, she could use the money and better take care of her beautiful family.

I absolutely love this family and Mrs Marcus has to be one of the strongest woman on earth. The strength she has and uses to take care of this family is definitely a gift from God. She wakes up and goes out in search for people that will pay her to farm on their fields for a payment and any day she doesn’t find work means the family might not eat that day. It reminds me of how my dad took care of my brother and I by himself when the love of his life passed and I hope Mrs Marcus’s kids come to respect and love her as I respect and love my father now. This family is deserving of any help they can received and this bag of Rice will definitely help and enable them to live better.
