Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Appolos family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Brandy Vaughn this is the 135th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this wonderful family in a village outside Aba, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village head. The Appolos family live in a rented one bedroom apartment but have separate structures for their bathroom and kitchen. Mrs Appolos is a widow and she has three children.

The Appolos have a small clay hut that they use as their kitchen. They use firewood to cook and even though it is the cheapest form of cooking, it leaves the pot black. Mrs Appolos has been taking care of her kids through her main occupation which is farming. She grows Corn and Cassava and sells them when they are ripe at a local market.

Mrs Appolos was at the farm when we came to see her. She was overjoyed and delighted by our visit and was very grateful for the bag of Rice we brought. She has been taking care of her children for the past 3 years since her husband died and she said that our visit was a miracle in their lives. I know that this family deserves this bag of Rice and their prayers for blessings on those who donated will be answered.
