. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Jackson family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Lindsey Watkins this is the 292nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Jacksons in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. The Jacksons were recommended by their village chief. Mr. Jackson was not around at the time we visited but we met his wife, Mrs. Sabbath, a 37 year old, who had just finished nursing her 4th child. From the look of things, we noticed that their house is a dual purpose mud building, used as shelter and as a business outfit. Mrs. Sabbath makes and sells soap which she makes from Palm Kernel Oil. She has been in the business for over 7 years but the business is challenged by high cost of raw materials like caustic soda and Palm kernel oil.

Her husband is a farmer who works really hard to provide for the family by selling some of the produce from the farm. They cook right inside one of rooms with firewoods. That room serves as a workshop for soap making, cutting and packaging. And as the dining room too.

She was very glad when we presented a bag of rice to her family and prayed for the donors who have given freely to them and them she asked for God to bless them immensely. I am always touched when they pray for those who have given them the gift, their humility and faith is beautiful.
