. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Edet family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an anonymous donor this is the 321st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met Mr Eyo Edet Effiong in Afana Ikot. This area has rich waters is renowned as one of the biggest reservoir for fishing. The Edets were both were brimming with smiles immediately we entered their compoud. We presume they are both in their early forties. Mr Edet is a fisherman while his wife is a full-time house wife. He explained that the business is highly seasonal, stating that during raining seasons, the probability of making much sales is very high, but same cannot be said about this period. This situation makes the business less lucrative as the gains realized during its boom, is never enough to sustain the family all through the inactive periods of the season.

Looking at how they lived, it’s obvious that a little help will boast the economy of the family and help fix some of the missing amenities needed to have good life. They live in a mud home with no power or water and little possessions. We noticed that they cook with the famous mount metal stand that makes use of firewood for cooking. The use of firewood is informed by its availability and affordability.

They were visibly happy to have us in their home, when we presented a bag of rice to them, at once, their mood changed for the better. A bit in shock and the gift we gave them and their good fortune. They thanked the donors for remembering them in this period of economic downturn.
