Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Edem family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Breanne Hunsaker this is the 359th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We came across this beautiful family in Ibesikpo village. They were recommended to us by their village chief. They live in an unfinished cement building. We came to meet everyone sitting and discussing outside their house. They were very surprised to see us because they were not expecting us. We met Mrs. Mfon Edem and her cute little children. Mr Augustine is an electrician`and was not home when we visited he was gone working. While Mrs Mfon is a trader who sells fruits at the local market. It’s not been easy for the both of them to manage especially with the condition of the environment in which they live in.
Since their house is still very much unfinished, the Edems don’t have a kitchen but they constructed a shed made of sticks and zinc and they use firewood to cook under the shed. Mrs Mfon was pregnant and has 3 small children she has a lot to manage and lack of funds to do so.
We were happy to meet this family and enjoyed spending time with them. They were overjoyed over the surprise we gave to them. They thanked us and were especially grateful for the people who donated the bag of rice to them and prayed for God to bless them tenfold for the unexpected miracle given to them.
