Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Iniefiok family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Lindsey Watkins Family this is the 421st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
Mary Sunday Iniefiok, 55, a local midwife, who hails from Ikom ima village in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa ibom State, South South Nigeria. She has since been in this business of helping families who cannot afford hospital charges in the cities during child birth with delivery, a practice which she said has recorded no fatality in over a decade. She is blessed with four kids.
We saw the kids outside the house and decided to stop and visit them, a visibly happy family with little source of income. We envisage that clothing the kids may be an uphill task for Mrs. Iniefiok as the kids were seen not properly dressed. They cook with a tripod cooking stand, an improvised stone stand which makes use of firewood. The means of getting firewood is pretty within reach according to her narration.
They were very happy to receive the gift of a bag of rice from us, to them, we have cushioned the effects of the financial stress being experienced ceaselessly by Mrs. Iniefiok due to her family size. She prayed that God should bless and enlarge the coast of the donors exceedingly.
