Bag of Rice Project #458 -A visit to the William family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the William family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to TERRY SIMMONS this is the 458th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this beautiful family in Uyo, Nigeria. They live close to the Etim family. The Williams family have 6 kids. They live in a one room apartment, with no running water or electricity. We met the Etim family lamenting the damage the flood has caused them and how it has destroyed a lot of their properties and the government has not said anything about it or helped them out of the situation.

The Williams family constructed a kitchen outside their home. They use firewood to cook and that is the cheapest they can afford. Anytime rain falls, the kitchen is flooded with water and they are left stranded. Mr. Archibong William is a security guard for a local school, he does this to support the family. The wife Mrs. Comfort Is a seamstress she supports the husband and they engage in this to feed the family, but the flood has made Mrs. Comfort not to work because her shop is flooded.

The Williams were excited to see us, they thought we were sent by one of the politicians to give them a bag of rice. We had to tell them someone donated it to them and they were shocked all they could do at this point was pray to God to bless the donor and enlarge their coast.
