Bag of Rice Project #46 -A visit to the John Family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the John family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Bre and Sue Falcone this is the 46th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family through their church leader. They live in bungalow compound with many other tenants. The Johns have 3 kids and they’re all under 16 years. Ever since Mr John was laid off from his government job, he has been unemployed and have been looking for work to feed his family. He has skills as a mason but finds little to no opportunity to use his skill. As a result of his unemployment, his family has really been in dire need of help.

The Johns were a lovely family to meet. We met their young and vibrant son Wilson and he wanted to be in every picture and he also requested one for himself. He was a lively spot and asked us if the rice was for them, I told him yes and that it could be for him alone if he can carry it inside by himself and he attempted to carry the rice! We promised him that we will print out his picture for him and we have already done so.

Mr Wilson

We met this family both courageous and strong willed at the same time. In spite of all they have passed through they have maintained the right attitude and hoped on God for a miracle. They said that we were that miracle and that we have helped their family to be able to survive another day. We are grateful for Bre and Sue Falcone for the donation and for them to know that they have really changed and affected the life of this family.
