Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Hanson family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to The Thayn family, and this is the 523rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the Hanson family in Ekpene Obo a village in the Southern part of Nigeria. When we got to the compound the family was seated outside, they gave us a warm welcome. When we told them what we brought for them they were excited and surprised that someone can give them a bag of rice without any strings attached. The family was happy. The family stays in a mud house which is not good for living because of the condition of the house if not properly taken care of it will collapse, the family is blessed with 7 kids but when we visited only one was around.
The Hanson family cooks at the back of their house and they make use of firewood for cooking, they make use of this because it is the cheapest form of cooking, they are unable to get cooking gas because it is not cheap. Mr and Mrs Hanson are both farmers and they fend for the family with this.
The family was happy and they prayed that God will bless the donor and bless the work of their hand. They prayed that anything the donor does will be successful. The family was happy as we left and continued praying.
