Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Imoh family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to Terry Simmons, and this is the 524th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
The Imoh family was recommended to us by a friend, when we got to the compound we saw the children outside the compound and they went to call their mother. When we saw the mother she gave us a receptive welcome and we told her what brought us to the family, she was excited and happy. She asked if it was given by the government and we told them it was donated to them by someone. The Imoh family lives in a one-bedroom apartment and they are blessed with 7 kids. They lack basic amenities like light and water.
The Imoh family cooks at the side of their house and they make use of firewood for cooking because they are unable to afford cooking gas, using firewood to cook is harmful to the health of the people because they are inhaling smoke which is not good for their health. Mr. Imoh was not in when we visited but they told us he’s unemployed and his wife Mrs. Imoh sells at the market to fend for the family.
They were happy and excited to have been given a full bag of rice which is higher than the minimum wage in the country. The family was happy and they prayed for the donor, they said God will bless them and supply all their needs. Also, they said God will protect them and guide them at all times. The family smiled and danced as we left.
