I grew up shopping at the DI because it was all we could afford. I shop there now because I realize the amazing deals it can provide my family, and the support it gives to the community. Doing good has never been so easy, just support your local Deseret Industries and you are helping miracles happen in people’s lives everyday!

I was excited to be invited to preview the new Nampa DI (Deseret Industries) before it opens, along with several other local bloggers. First off let me say I am a huge fan of thrift store shopping (after all my name is A THRIFTY Mom lol), so I was pretty excited about seeing the new store. It did not disappoint, sparkling clean with amazing items up for sale, and a well planned store layout, that will make shopping easy. I will be in line with the rest of you ready to grab some of these amazing deals at the grand opening. To see all my sneak peak photos (and scope out the items you want most) you can see them here.Did you know that your donations make a huge impact in our community? They are sold in stores and the proceeds from these sales go to fund training programs to help people in the community. Both training in the store as well as job coaching, and training programs in other employment areas. Your donations help CHANGE THE LIVES of those around you, for the good! I have always been taught to give things we no longer use to the DI, since I was little. But hearing more about the programs and good they do in the community, inspired me to want to give and shop there even more. Both are key elements in making this program successful, both donations and shoppers. You can watch some great videos here on how DI has changed peoples lives.
Deseret Industries also gives back to may people in the community in offering household items, clothing, bedding and other items when needed. Many times FREE when refereed from schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, or social workers. Deseret Industries is there to give them a helping hand and make sure they get the items they need. It is amazing to know that the things we give can do so much good!
The DI Grand Opening is going to be amazing, all these items have been hand picked and there are some great deals to be found. My favorite section of the store is way in the back, called the OUTDOOR section. Where they have everything from duck decoys, camping gear, outdoor furniture to vintage gumball machines. That is the great thing about a 2nd hand thrift store shopping, you NEVER know what you are going to find, it really is a treasure hunt.As a lifelong thrift store shopper I have to say my number one tip to scoring the AMAZING DEALS, is to shop often and have a list! That does not mean you have to buy something every time you go into the store, but it does mean you know what you are looking for and shop with a purpose. You may come across those amazing things you “never knew you needed”, so grab those too. But it is best to make a list of the things you need, want and keep an eye open for them. You will be surprised at how fast you can often find the items you are looking for!
I hope to see you at the new Nampa DI store, I know we will be there often. If you happen to see me, make sure you come and say Hi. You know I love a thrifty deal and shopping with friends is even more fun.

Hey, thanks for the tip… I plan on making the rounds, I am always looking for good deals on clothes and shoes too. 🙂
They have lots of fun stuff to decorate with… make sure you head right back to the YARD or outdoor area, so much fun stuff back there.
I cannot wait to come! I love the DI and all the deals plus they are usually the best organized with sizes and colors. I am really excited to have one so close to home. Plus, we have been redecorating our home and I am always looking for a unique piece of furniture or wall décor. Whoo hoo, see ya’ll at ten TOMORROW! Yay! Big thank you to A Thrifty Mom for keeping us posted on the new store and opening dates and times.
Anyone local plan to attend?
