Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

Hey everyone, it’s Katie! I love my Instant Pot. I’ve been using it for several years and one of my favorite ways to use it is to make hard boiled eggs in it. They turn out perfect every time!

My husband and kids love a hard boiled egg for a snack or with their meal. They are great for kid’s school lunches too.

You can make 6 boiled eggs with the insert that comes with the Instant Pot or you can use a steamer basket like this one and do a lot of eggs at once.

I use my steamer basket for a dozen or more eggs. Super handy for getting ready to color eggs at Easter.

I use the 6 – 6 – 6 method. Which is pretty fast.

Put your eggs in the instant pot either on the stand or in the steamer basket. Add about 1/2 -1 cup water. Enough to cover the bottom with out having your eggs sit in water.

Cook on manual for 6 minutes.

Let the pressure naturally release for 6 minutes.

Then open the release valve with a hot pad so you don’t burn your hand and let the rest of the pressure release, if there is any. I can usually just open it up after letting it release naturally.

Remove the eggs using some tongs and put them in an ice bath for 6 minutes.

All done! I have found that eggs are easier to peel after being cooked this way. This is a much gentler way to “hard boil” an egg than boiling water and so very rarely have I had an egg crack.

Refrigerate your hard boiled eggs and enjoy them over the next few days or make egg salad or deviled eggs with them.
