Local Boise area fun activities for kids:

Although we are a national website, our site started here in the Boise area. Sarah has lived here in Middleton and Caldwell her whole life. And with 4 kids under 10, we try hard to get out and visit fun places for them to enjoy life. At the same time we try hard not to go over board on spending and cost.  Each activity we try to find fun places to take our kids to.

Even our readers who come to visit want to find fun places for kids to play and learn. last night we got this email:

I am writing to ask your advice and help on finding deals on fun things to do and places to eat with children in the Boise area. Our family will be in Boise for a few days next month and would like to explore the area. My children are ages 7, 5, and 1. Since this is our first time to Boise, we are interested in both touristy and local adventures. Any ideas for some thrifty fun in your hometown?

Things we thought of would be:

Old Idaho Penitentiary – Old idaho Jail and tour

Basque Cultural Center – One of the largest areas of people from the Basque culture out side of Spain
Boise Zoo – zoo’s are always fu places for kids, and have a lunch right out side at:
Julia Davis Park – fun shaded area to enjoy nature, and let the kid play on the play grounds, or ride the paddle boats and feed the geese.
World Center for Birds of Prey – see the fastest bird of prey – the Peregrine Falcon in action
The Blue Turf – Boise States famous blue football field
The Discovery Center of Boise – our kids love coming here.
Wahooz Fun park – ride go-carts, play miniature golf, and more!
Roaring Springs –  Wave pool, winding river, raft slides, kiddie pools and slides, and so much more
Settlers park – in Meridian is a Free Public park where there is a huge play ground, musical area, and water spouts and spray area where it is a thrifty relief from the heat!
And of course all of the Forrest, trails, hikes, rivers, and anything out door is all found with in a short drive!
