Here are the how to’s for our cards (we made small cards using 1/2 a sheet of paper but you could do the same thing with a full piece):
Cut a piece of paper in half
Fold in half and in half again to make a card
Unfold card
Refold bottom half of card along previously made fold line
Cut 1/2 a heart making sure to leave a little bit of the heart connected (be careful not to cut heart too puffy or when the card is folded back up it will stick out of the card)
Refold card
push heart out and re-crease so that crease in heart is outward
