My Garden….ummm died

Well I am sad to report that this will be the first time in 10 years that we will NOT have a garden.   We started off strong, planting our seeds and watching our little plants grow.  But then we had the new baby, weather was crazy it rained a ton which made our seeds mold.  Then it got super hot which killed the plants, we replanted several times.

This is our first year in this house and yes our back yard is nice a big, but does not have a nice garden spot yet.  Hard soil, weeds and doesn’t have a fence to keep our dog (and kids) away from the plants……So after 4 months of struggling I decided to accept defeat.  I am rather sad, my family really enjoys the fresh veggies all summer long, and we love sharing them with our neighbors as well.  Plus it saves us a ton of money.

This has me looking at other options for getting produce this summer for my family.  I wish we had a Bountiful Basket location in my area.  These are found all over (from Idaho – Texas to see if there is one in your area click here) but there are none in my area.  I have had several readers ask me about them in the past but I have not been interested because I had my own garden.

You can find all the details on their site , but from what I understand you pay $15 and get a basket full of fresh produce (or you can pay more for organic).  You order and pay online before you pick it up, and every other week you go pick up your basket of Fruits and Veggies.  Any area can start a co-op but it is all volunteer so  they just need a few people willing to put for the the leg work to get it started.  Are any of you in the Boise/Caldwell area interested in starting or participating in this?  Or do you have one in your area and do you think it is worth the $15.00 a week?  Love to hear your thoughts on this….
