Plastic Lawn Chair Up-Cycle ~ Money Saving Tip

We have had these 2 green chairs for a LONG time… in fact I think we have had them for 10 years.  They are still in great condition when it comes to durability, but lets face it they are ugly as can be.  Faded, scratched with bits of paint from other projects all over them.  I have these on my front porch but am a bit embarrassed that these were the first thing my guest see as they entered my home.

Part of being “thrifty” is using things to their full potential, no reason toss something in the trash that still has a use.  I decided to take some left over paint from another project and give these chairs a face lift.  I was not sure how they would turn out.. but after all they could not look any worse.  I painted them black and I have to say they turned out looking brand new!  I should have done this a few years ago.

If you try this make sure you use a paint made for plastic.

What is the craziest thing you have ever spray painted?

  1. I want to know how you got them clean enough in the first place to paint them. I tried using two different products and it would take literally, HOURS to clean just one. But I’d love to give it a try.

  2. I want to know how you got them clean enough to spray paint? Mine don’t seem to come clean. What product did you use??
