Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Tom family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to Ginger Wagstaff, this is the 464th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
This family were recommended to us by the Udoh family. They live next door to them and were badly affected by the flood. They lost most of their belongings in the flood and were squatting with other families around their neighborhood. Mrs Udoh is a widow and she has four kids. Some of them now stay at their relatives due to the flooding, she is not able to care for them after loosing everything.
The Toms were quite unfortunate as their side of the house experienced more flooding than the rest of their neighbors. They have been through a lot and have maily survived because of the goodwill of their neighbors. They share a kitchen with the Udohs and when the Udohs are using the kitchen, they use a small makeshift spot to cook. They use firewood because it is the cheapest that they can afford.
The Toms were very grateful for the gift that they recieved and were very thankful for the donation. They prayed that the donors be rewarded for this great kindness and could not believe that someone was kind enough, and could gift them a whole bag of Rice unexpectedly. They prayed for God to send down blessings on them.
