Look What I Made

Are you looking for a great Cinco De Mayo Recipe…. here is one to try.

Easy and Cheap Restaurant Style Homemade Salsa

I love salsa. The stuff from the stores just doesn’t cut it though. We eat alot of Mexican food at our house and buying fresh tomatoes to make a batch of salsa sometimes isn’t affordable. That’s where this recipe comes in. It is so CHEAP! It uses canned tomatoes instead of fresh and it’s even cheaper that the jarred stuff at the supermarket. Not to mention it tastes pretty darn good and you can use so many different ingredients to switch up the flavor! It was also great added in with the Vegetarian Taco Dip recipe. Enjoy!!
What you need:
2- 14.5 oz diced tomatoes (regular or Mexican style)
1 small can diced green chiles
1/4 bunch cilantro
2 cloves garlic
2 whole green onions
1/2 tbsp sugar
salt and pepper
Additional add-ins:
peaches
pineapple
jalepenos
anaheim pepper
bell pepper
lime
Directions:
Mince all ingredients in a food processor except tomatoes. Add tomatoes, pulse a couple more times, or until it reaches the consistency you prefer. Refrigerate before serving!

Finger Print Flower and Poem ~ DIY Mother’s Day Card

I was looking at some old Mother’s Day cards my kids have given me over the years and I came across this finger print flower poem.  I loved it then, and still love it now.  So my girls made a few of them yesterday for a fun after school project.

The poem reads…

I made you a flower

With my finger and my thumb

So you will have these memories

For all the years to come

Happy Mother’s Day

To make these all you need is a white price of card stock cut into a strip, colored paper to make the card, green marker to draw a stem, paints and some cute little fingers.

Have your child dip their finger in green paint to create the leaves.  Then dip their pointer finger in paint to create the flower petals.  I found it was easier for them to follow a circle drawn with pencil.  Attach the poem and you are done!

1 pintrestMy kids love to paint!
Why not make a craft project with your kids using food coloring and milk ?
My kids range from 7-17 years of age,
and they all loved making their own piece of art out of bread.
2 ingredientsSupplies:
White Bread
Milk
Clean paint brush
Food Coloring
3 foodcoloringGather 4 cups and 4 spoons-
Pour 1/8 cup of milk in each cup with 3-5 drops of food coloring; stir.
4 painted breadPaint a fun design.  DO NOT apply too much milk so that the bread is soaked.
Apply a small amount of milk on the brush and lightly paint onto the bread.
If too much milk is added, it is okay, it will not completely dry when toasted.
Yet, it taste just the same.
5toasted breadToast the bread.  The toasted area will turn brown where the color is not at.
My daughter cut out some butterflies with a cookie-cutter and painted them too.

April Fools Dessert Burgers, Quick and easy dessert for APRIL FOOLS DAY #Recipe #AprilFools #Dessert #KidsRecipeApril Fools Dessert Burgers ~ April Fools Day Recipe

My kids think April Fools is such a fun day, Normally I dye the milk green or feed them something silly.  This year I have decided to make them BURGERS for dessert.  Perfect for their little fingers and sure to make them smile.   I thought I would share the idea with you so you can make them too.

To make your very own April Fools Burgers, You will need:

  • Jif Hazelnut Salted Caramel (or Nutella will work)
  • Nilla Wafers
  • Powdered sugar
  • Green, Red and Yellow Frosting

April Fools Dessert Burgers, Quick and easy dessert for APRIL FOOLS DAY #Recipe #AprilFools #Dessert #KidsRecipeFirst off if you have not tried Jif’s Hazelnut Salted Caramel, then go buy and jar and bring along a spoon.  Why a spoon… because this stuff is AMAZING it is like eating liquid Feria Rocher chocolate. It is seriously amazing!  Put equal parts Jif and powdered sugar into a bowl and mix together, the powdered sugar will make the Jif not so sticky and you will be able to make a “dough” out of it. Use your fingers to kneed into a dough and then shape into a patty.

April Fools Dessert Burgers, Quick and easy dessert for APRIL FOOLS DAY #Recipe #AprilFools #Dessert #KidsRecipeYou will need 2 Nilla wafers for each burger. On the bottom bun put green frosting to look like lettuce.  Next put your “beef patty” and on top of that put drops of yellow and red frosting. The yellow and the red are suppose to look like mustard and ketchup.  Add your bun on top and easy as that you have a cute April Fools Treat.
