So Sarah and I have been having a debate on either or not to get chickens to raise for the kids, and for the egss… and oh yeah we have an ear-wig problem too. So we want the bugs gone as well.
I want to build a cute little chicken coup and allow the kids to help with the building and taking care of the chickens. We live in a neighborhood of seniors, and a few young families. It’s a small suburb/farming community. We have about a 1/3 of an acre with a large backyard.
BUT we need your input. Do you have chickens, or your friends?
What do you think of it?
Are the hens loud?
See the problem is Sarah was raised on a farm and she hates them. She thinks they are muddy and gross, and they pecked at her. I really just think it was more like a dirty chore for her. I would like to get them as young chicks and raise them from birth. That way they are more accustomed to being held and around our kids.

(Update from Sarah….Matt wanted those crazy little fainting goats a few months ago ( if you do not know what I am talking about look them up on YouTube, yes they are cute) I guess he finally gave up and now is trying his luck with chickens. Silly boy!)
