Good deed of the day – Save a hummingbird

So the other day Mckeely came running in saying there was a hummingbird in our hot sauna room. I really didn’t believe her because there are not that many around here, or at least ones we have seen. But sure enough there it was.

Sittin up in the corner of a glassed in room that is on the list to be torn down. We leave a window open to try and keep it cool in their. We have never had anything in there except for bee’s and wasp’s. Matt went out there and quietly tried to shoo the little bird out the window. But the poor little thing was not getting the hint. So Matt asked for the dollar store bug net the kids run around the back yard with. Cautiously Matt was able to gently net the hummingbird. He brought it in to take it out back and we had to take a photo. It’s not the often you get this close to a cute little hummingbird.

The pretty little bird just sat there in his hand. Almost relaxed and absorbing the heat from his hand. After the quick photo, Matt brought the bird to the back yard near some grape vine flowers for a quick refill of nectar for the bird. And off he flew. So if you want these cute little birds in your yard – Check out these hummingbird feeders that will attract them with these bright colors:
