Thanks to The Frugal Girls for this Thrifty Tip
In my quest to cut costs and eat healthier, about one year ago I started making my own homemade maple syrup!
Now don’t get me wrong…I’m not saying that maple syrup is healthy! ๐ However, I do like that this recipe uses real sugar as opposed to High Fructose Corn Syrup.
This recipe makes a light tasting syrup, that is delicious served warm over pancakes, french toast, waffles, etc.
If you haven’t made homemade maple syrup before, it’s truly a cinch!
Homemade Maple Syrup
1 Cup Water
1 Cup Sugar
1 tsp. Maple Extract or Mapleine Imitation Flavoring
*Bring water and sugar to slow boil over low heat, stirring continually.
*Remove from heat before it comes to a rolling boil.
*Stir in maple extract as it is cooling.
*Serve warm.
The best part? It costs approximately 20 cents to make! ๐
Since syrup doesn’t seem to last too long around here, I like to triple this recipe and store the leftovers in the fridge. If you havenโt tried making your own syrup yet, I highly encourage you to try. Itโs simple, thrifty, and really delicious!
