Where has Matt been?

Well thanks to you, our readers, I received enough votes in the Ambassador of WOW contest to win. It was an online advertising program by Jamba Juice that looked for everyday people who love Jamba Juice and being healthy. Well this weekend has been quite the new experience for me. As many have noticed I am not the one to be in front of the camera. Many videos and photos we post on the site, I take, by choice. I would rather be behind the camera then in front. When we go to the beach I take some 600 photos in just a couple of days. Put me in front of the camera and I get tunnel vision and get really embarrassed.

Well on Thursday Jamba Juice flew me out to Los Angles to go to their photo shoot. Argghh I said… Sarah what did you get me into? Yes I love Jamba, but a photo shoot? So off I went. I flew in and got in line for a taxi.

Once I got to the hotel I met up with Ben who is another Ambassador of WOW at Jamba Juice. We went out to the ball park and watched his team the Pirates play at the Dodger Stadium against the Dodgers. And I couldn’t go to a baseball game with out getting a hotdog!

And yes we got seats real close to the field, just a few rows back. But you know I am married to A Thrifty Mom, so did I pay full price… NOOOO! I got the tickets half off! Partly because the guy I went with, Ben, was quite the talker and got buddy – buddy with the ticket booth and the guy at the counter said he could get us a “special deal”. Half off tickets in the second inning! So strange to see a stadium almost empty. I am just so used to seeing the Boise State Bronco football games always sold out!

Well after the game I headed back to the hotel. Early the next morning I got packed up and headed over to the photo shoot. Of coarse it was right next to a Jamba Juice. It was in a vacant store at a strip mall across from the Beverly Center in LA. We had about 15 people in a small room. He had racks and racks of clothing, tables of computers, a table for the Jamba Juice product preparation, the make up table, and the white backdrop and lighting units set up in the back. Trust me I really do not like being in front of the camera. I got there early to watch Ben go first to try and get some pointers.

While I was watching him I had to change clothes in front of everyone, it must be a Hollywood thing. It was a good thing I watched Ben, he did a great job and gave me some tips just by watching him. Before you knew it – It was My turn! Argghhh – thanks to the camera guy he really walked me through it. And really made me comfortable. We did about an hour of a casual look, jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Next we changed into some athletic wear. Shorts and a gym shirt , the under armour type of clothing. We took tons of photos, each outfit with different products. Each time they wanted to switch to a different product I made sure I got “paid” by drinking a ton of Jamba Juice! I’ll tell you, I will never get tired of Jamba Juice. By the time we got into the shoot I was able to try new positions and angles to help out the photographer. Hopefully I get to see some of the angles and shots I suggested. We will see. Right now these photos will be used over the next year on their online advertising.

So all in all – I had a good time. The folks that work for Jamba Juice in the photography and Public Relation firm, the production company and the assistants and even the make-up department did great. Every one was so friendly and nice, and really made me feel at home. But I am glad to be back home. Home in Idaho with my family and wife. It is always fun to see new places, but it even better to be home!
