Skittles Experiment Melting Magic

Skittles Experiment Melting Magic - Quick and easy science projects for kids, low cost school science fair projects

Who has heard of the Skittles Experiment Melting Magic  – Quick and easy science projects for kids.  This is so simple but SO MUCH FUN.  My kids have done it several times, but every time we do it, they ooh and aah and ask if they can do it again. Another great thing about Skittles Experiment Melting Magic , is it is low cost. Plus you normally have everything you need right in your kitchen.

Who is ready to get started? To make your very own Skittles Experiment Melting Magic  you will need:

  • Skittles
  • White plate or bowl
  • Cup with warm water

Yes that is right, all you need is 3 items!  To get started you will need to find a FLAT surface that does not wiggle. A sturdy table or counter is best. We tried to do this outside on the grass, but we could find a level spot.  It is important to let you kids know that if you bump or wiggle the plate the colors will “blur” together. This will make them look muddy instead of like a pretty rainbow. Skittles Experiment Melting Magic - Quick and easy science projects for kids, low cost school science fair projects

Start by putting your Skittles around the edge of the plate. You can put them in any order. But this is also a great time to teach your kids about patterns. My kids decided to do a pattern around the plate.  Once you have the Skittles lined up slowly pour in the warm water. You want the warm water to cover them halfway.  Now you just wait for the  Skittles Experiment Melting Magic to work. It starts working its magic within just a few seconds.  Make sure you do not bump the plate.

The colors will start to stretch or melt into the middle of the plate, creating a rainbow.  You can watch the rainbow grow right before your eyes. Not sure about your kids, but mine were happy to eat the candy even after they were wet and the color was gone off the back side. Not sure if I should be proud or grossed out by this, lol. What is the old saying, “waste not, want not” I guess it is nice they are not wasting candy.

Hope you enjoy Skittles Experiment Melting Magic, as much as my kids did! We would love to hear what your family thought if you try it too!

Free back to school printable

free back to school printable is a perfect way to celebrate at home. Or makes a good teacher gift.Free back to school printable

It is that time of year again! Kids are headed back to school. Some are excited about it, others, not so much.  I have some of each in my house. I am excited for them though. It’s fun to think of the new things they will learn and the friends they will make.

Here is a fun printable for you to enjoy! Click here back to school to download the pdf. Just select it, save to your computer and then send to your favorite printer. You can also click the photo below and save it to your computer. I have found that sometimes the pdf prints better, but not all printers will print a pdf version. Either should be fine.

I love decorating for each season but it can be expensive. Having a frame that you change out with printables for each season and fun event during the year is a thrifty, fun way to add some seasonal flair to your home, office, classroom, etc.

I think it would be cute with some fun school supplies for a beginning of the year teacher gift also. Print it small and make it into a card, throw in a gift card or something else your teacher will love and you have a thrifty gift in almost no time at all.

So now that it is back to school, it’s time to get back to a routine and order. I am looking forward to that aspect of it, even if the thought of getting up at six in the morning every day isn’t my favorite thing LOL. So good luck and I hope this is your best year yet!

DIY Emoji party invitations, teen or tween party idea

Looking for a fun party theme for your teen or tween, DIY Emoji party invitations, teen or tween party idea

DIY Emoji party invitations, teen or tween party idea

DIY Emoji party invitations, teen or tween party idea

I love making invitations for my kid’s birthday parties, but don’t want to take forever or spend a lot of money.

My daughter had a birthday and it was time to come up with something fitting for her.

You will need

Yellow cardstock or construction paper

markers, vinyl or paper in black, white, red

markers to write the party details on the back

scissors or a circle template cutter

I cut my circles in 4 inches and they seem to be perfect for a party invitation.

Begin by cutting your yellow cardstock into circles. I love this Martha Stewart circle cutter that I have had for years. You do need a self healing mat if you are going to use a cutter like this though.

Once you have your circles cut it is time to decorate them. Scraps of vinyl were used and I have the faces used if you are interested in them. I created them myself, so I don’t mind sharing. They were made on my trusty silhouette, so they are in that format, so shoot me a message or post in the comments if you are interested.

Just write your party information on the back and you are done. This would also be cute as a party banner, party coasters, so many options and they are so cute!
