Halloween Party Food for Kids and Adults ~ Bloody Finger Hot Dogs

I know GROSS, but oh so fun. My 5 year old laughed so hard when he saw these, He even said something like “This is the best dinner ever”.  I know, boys are gross right :).   I have to admit I am more of a fan of the cute lovable side of Halloween, but if you are looking for an EASY recipe idea for your Halloween party (or just for dinner) this one is a keeper.   It is so easy to make but has a dramatic effect for sure.

All you need is a pack of hot dogs, a knife, pot to boil them in, ketchup and buns. Pretty much just normal hot dogs, all you have to do it make a few cuts in them before you cook them.  Use a sharp knife ( I love my Rachel Ray set)  to cut knuckle lines in the hot dogs, also cut a nail bed into the top of the hot dog. I go ahead and cut off the skin for this part to make it look for like a finger nail.   If you are busy you can do this part the day before the party to help save time.  I boil the hot dogs, as I found grilling them makes it harder to see the lines and they look LESS like fingers.

Bring your water to a boil, toss the hot dogs in and allow to cook. I normally cook mine about 4 minutes. But you can cook them however long you like.  Take out of water and serve on hot dog buns that have been smeared with ketchup to look like blood.  It is a whole new take on “Finger Food”.  Hope you enjoy this fun and easy Halloween Recipe.

Another idea would be to make these into sliders and use small rolls, and a little smoky sausage instead of a hot dog.

Easy Deviled Eggs The Best Spicy Recipe you will ever taste, Classic Deviled Egg Finger food with a kick, Easter Egg Recipe IdeasThe Best Spicy Deviled Eggs Recipe

Deviled Eggs happen to be one of my favorite foods, when they are made right I can eat a whole plate of them (not that I have ever done that…lol).  It must be something in our family, because my little brother told his wife that deviled eggs are the perfect side dish, they GO WITH EVERY MEAL.  She thinks he is nuts, but I kind of agree with him.  If you do not share our love for deviled eggs, then maybe you are just looking for a great bbq side or holiday finger food idea… we still have you covered :).  These spicy deviled eggs are a great twist on the classic recipe.

Ingredients for Spicy Deviled Eggs :

  • 1 Dozen Hard Boiled Eggs
  • 1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 3/4 Teaspoon Yellow Mustard
  • 1/2 Tsp Serrano or Jalapeno Peppers (Finely Diced)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • Paprika (Optional)

Directions for Spicy Deviled Eggs :

Peel the hard boiled eggs then cut them in half lengthwise. Softly coop out the egg yolks and transfer them into a medium size mixing bowl.Add the mayonnaise, mustard, Serrano peppers, garlic salt and cayenne pepper and mash with a fork until fully combined. Taste to see if additional salt is needed. Place the mixture into a frosting bag or Ziploc bag (with the tip cut off) and pipe the filling into the empty egg whites. If you don’t have either of these items, just scoop the filling into the egg whites with a small spoon. Garnish with paprika and slices of Serrano pepper. Place the eggs on a serving tray and refrigerate until it’s time to serve. Hint for less spicy use jalapeno peppers instead.

I love this fast and easy recipe for dill dip. It will be the hit of your party or bbq, it is even good as a spread for sandwiches or burgers.  It is best if made the day before the event so the flavors have lots of time to blend. It can also be made last minute if needed.  Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as our family does.

You will need:

One and half cup Sour Cream
A cup mayonnaise
One tbsp Dill Weed
A single tsp Garlic powder
Single tsp Onion powder
Half tsp Granulated beef bouillon
Salt and pepper  to taste (about 1/4 teaspoon each)

In a small bowl add the dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, beef bouillon and salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside. In a medium sized bowl (3 cup bowl) with a lid (the lid helps with easy storage) add mayonnaise and sour cream. Fold together until creamy and smooth. Add in the seasoning mix well. Chill for 1 hour minimum, best if chilled 24 hours. Serve with your favorite Rye Bread, chips, pretzels, bagel chips or veggies. Garnish with a pinch of dill weed just before serving.

Silly Mouth Apple Snacks – Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

Does not matter who you are, when you look down and this is on your plate you can’t help but smile, maybe even giggle. A healthy treat made fun by cutting and assembling the fruit to look like a mouth with it’s tongue sticking out at you.

You can make 4 faces out of one apples.  Cut into quarters, then cut those quarters in half again giving you 8 apple wedges.  Spread creamy peanut butter on  one side of each wedge, then  put those two edges together allowing a gap for the tongue to go.  To make the tongue cut a small to medium sized strawberry length wise you can get 3-4 out of one strawberry. Place in the middle of the two apple wedges.  Apply Wilton candy eyes with a little dab of peanut butter on the back.
