Spooky Eyes – Thrifty DIY Halloween Decor

It doesn’t take a lot of money or time to come up with a few cute decorations to celebrate Halloween!  With a few supplies that you likely have around the house you can make some fun last minute additions to your house for the holiday.

You will need

Styrofoam plates or sturdy paper one

Colored paper 2 sheets

black paper 1 sheet

glue stick

hot glue gun and sticks

tape

Begin by cutting your colored paper into two circles.  I used a circle cutter like this one.  I love it!  It is fast and does multiple sized circles from 1 inch to 5 1/2 inches.  No need for multiple punches!  I cut my colored paper into 5 inch circles for a large sized paper plate.  Then cut your black paper into 2 circles also.  Mine were 3 inches.

Once you have your circles cut, glue them together and then glue onto your paper plate.

If you are looking for eyes that aren’t spooky, you can stop there and have some big, wide eyes that look like this.

If you are looking for some angry or spooky Halloweenish (yes I know that isn’t a real word) eyes then cut 2 strips of black paper.  Mine were 3.5 inches wide and 12 inches long.  Glue them together in the shape of an L.

Once that is glued together, you are going to want a hot glue gun to attach them to the plates.  This is the one I have, it isn’t fancy but it sure gets the job done!

Make sure you glue the eyes close together and then attach the eyebrows so they are partially covering the plates.  You are done!  These would look great on your front door like I have them, or in a tree, in a tree, window, your office at work, or even on your car for a trunk or treat!  Now you have a small, festive addition to celebrate Halloween!
